There are two kinds of privacy listings. Your name and number can be left out of the phone book, but still be available through directory assistance; this is called a non-listed number. You can also choose to have your name and number left out of the phone book and unavailable through directory assistance; this is called a non-published number. There's an additional charge for either option.
