Infographic: Why MPLS? Benefits of MPLS vs. Internet VPN
How does an MPLS network compare to a traditional internet VPN model?
First, in a traditional internet VPN network, you have no control over Quality of Service (QoS) because your data is transmitted over the public internet and traffic can't be distinguished between priority and non-priority. An internet VPN model also lacks security and has high latency.
In comparison, the standards for reliability, speed and quality are significantly higher when using MPLS networking. With MPLS, all branches have direct access to the network, delivering low latency and control over QoS.
