Tech Tip: February 2023

4 reasons why you should not use outdated devices on your wireless network

  1. Slow speeds. Older devices, such as laptops, printers, and smart home devices, often have slower wireless adapters, which can slow down the overall network speed.
  2. Interference. Older devices may use outdated wireless standards that can interfere with modern devices and cause performance issues.
  3. Incompatible protocols. Older devices may not support the latest wireless protocols, which can lead to poor connectivity or lower data transfer rates.
  4. Limited bandwidth. Older devices may be limited to single-band Wi-Fi and may not support dual-band or tri-band Wi-Fi, which can impact the overall bandwidth available for all devices.
